Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

One of the most delightful, heartfelt, funny and sweet reads I’ve ever grabbed!!

Red, White and Royal Blue has been on my reading list from the moment it was released. I adore queer literature because romance novels is about love and love can be found in so many ways! Plus M/M reads just tug on my heart is a special way.

I’m sad I put off this book for so long but grateful it found me when it did because damn, the wait was worth it and all the love I’ve seen grow for this novel is proof it was worth it too.

The story is simple really, the First Son of the United States doesn’t like Prince Henry of Wales. He has this humorous hatred for him which was see from the start. However it’s that kind of hatred you see in little kids who tug on each other pigtails. I think you know where this is going…

Well he dislikes him at most and so when a tiny (blasted) photo is published of Alex and Henry in a tumble, PR forces them to work together to clean up their image. They must act as best friends so no one is wiser to their non friendship.

However with them being forced together it causes Alex to see Henry a little differently from how he believed him to be. They spend moments together and despite it changing nothing, they craft a strange friendship from across the pond. Texts and late night emails pull them closer intertwined as they both understand and relate to one another with ease.

The friendship is no surprise and so cute to see, especially as it’s not something Alex ever imagined.

There’s so much more to this story but I’ll leave you with that tease and the fact that Alex and Henry build something special, something that’s only theirs which they want to keep sacred but with their public lives and Alex’s mother running for Presidency again there’s risks to their secrets.

Casey McQuiston weaves together and addictive story with suspense, a little drama, fun secondary characters, laughs, sweetness, steam and most of all hope Ans heart. She brings a story that gives you hope for a world that accepts love for as it is and prove to work to be better each and every day.

I loved how fun it was to read and so easy to fall into. I breezed through it and never wanted it to end.

Alex and Henry live in my heart from this day forth and damn I don’t think I’ll ever be able to let them go! A total must read if you want to have a smiling and glowing day!!
