Don’t you ever just need a book that makes you smile and heart swoon?
Frayed was my first book by Laura Pavlov and I can 100% say it won’t be the last. I’ve only heard amazing things about her and I’m so glad I made time to grab this read.
Shout-out to Laura and listening to my constant swooning over Jett! Because guys if you’re not Team Jett within .5 seconds of reading this book, I don’t know you.
Addy has always listened to what everyone wanted her to do. Which school to go, what’s classes to take, which boys to date. Everything has been heavily constructed especially by her mother. So when the ropes start to loosen as she discovers some truths about her boyfriend, it opens her to a new world.
Enter old friend Jett!! Oh you’ll love him from the first page. He’s grown up with a single mom, the small towns not be the kindest so he’s got a rough exterior and a huge passion to play well at football to score a place at Texas University.
Jett used to be friends with Addy but with her boyfriend Alec, a grade-A douchebag around, he stepped back. However, sharing a single class and sweet ole Sherman bringing them together a little builds a friendship between them.
Jett and Addy find each other when they need someone to listen the most. They’re ears and arms and forge a friendship that slowly becomes more. They show each other side’s to world’s they didn’t think of and I loved how they balanced each other out.
What I loved most was how every time I saw Jett on the page my heart swooned. He may have a rough exterior from the cards the world handed him but he by far has a heart of gold and if Addy didn’t swoop in to take his heart, I may just have!
This story was sweet to the touch, with so much friendship, so much humour and heart whil also layers of tensions and drama keeping you on edge until the final page.
I never wanted the book to end and that’s a brilliant feeling. I adore Addy and Jett’s journey as it’s one some can relate to, while also remaining us to do what we love because life isn’t all that long!

Blurb:
My name is Adelaide Edington, and my life was mapped out for me before I even entered the world.
Who I’d date, where I’d attend college, what I’d be when I grew up.
But there comes a time in everyone’s life when they face a fork in the road.
Should I go left, or should I go right?
It didn’t matter as long as I didn’t remain stagnant any longer.
Jett Stone opened me up to a whole new world.
Reminding me that it was okay to find my own way.
I could have roots in Willow Springs and still spread my wings and fly.
What I didn’t expect was to fall in love with the broody football player.
The boy I’d known since kindergarten.
The boy who I wasn’t supposed to be with—but had somehow become my everything.
