What a story! I just mean….What. A. Story!

Seriously Starfish being my first read by Lisa Becker is absolutely phenomenal. The pace at which it moves is steady but with enough of a pull to keep you needing to read more.

The journey of being able to meet Marin and Brad and getting to know them as people and their lives is exciting. It’s interesting and intriguing to see when they will decide to cave into this instant attraction they have.

Marin is trying out for an four month internship when she doesn’t get the placement she desired she realises that she will indeed be having to live city by city while coasting with a rock band. However little does she know this experience is going to be one to not ever forget.

Brad, a musical protégé and lover of programming is part of the band that Marin is going to joining to do PR. He hasn’t always wanted to be in a band, it more so being his brothers dream but being the sweet guy he is, he lives this life to make others happy.

When both their world’s colloid into one they end up having a sweet friendship that builds but with Brad knowing exactly what he wants, which is more he fights to get Marin to cave into what they could become.

With nights spent watching Seinfeld, cuddling and sharing secrets with a few laughs too, they end up giving into what they have. Yet with their lives still hanging around them they need to learn to balance everything with still keeping what connection they have built.

It’s a wonderful read that had me wanting more with every page. There was never a dull moment and what I loved the most was how the secondary characters were as involved in the story as the main. We followed all of their journey’s, learning about them and seeing how their relationships with Marin and Brad changes things along the course of the way.

Blurb:

Ambitious graduate Marin Collins accepts a four-month internship at a prestigious public relations firm to work on a tech account, but her plans are derailed when she’s assigned to go on the road with touring rock band Kings Quarters, hailed by Rolling Stone as the next big thing.

Enter Brad Osterhauser, the reluctant rock star who would rather be coding computer games than penning Grammy-nominated songs.

Traveling by bus, city to city with a group of practical joking bandmates and a greedy manager, Marin and Brad forge a friendship and forbidden romance over a shared love of Seinfeld episodes, stolen moments and Red Vines.

But when Marin’s accused of betraying her company and the band, will Brad come to her defense or believe she was disloyal to him for the sake of her career?

Told in alternating perspectives of Marin and Brad, Starfish is a contemporary romance of unexpected love, the redemptive power of music and hogging the bed.
